Robot kit
Order the Kyosho MANOI AT01 Robot Kit.
Gyro & Radio Control
(2) KONDO KRG-3 Gyros, provide stability - there are two cavities in the front torso to seat them perfectly centered, see docs. Highly recommended.
For a radio control, you might find an old KRC-2 as they are now discontinued.

or
(1) KONDO KRC-2 * 13 buttons and 4 function switches, giving a total of 180 possible combinations (discontinued as of 01/2007)
A better RC option could be the KONDO USB/RC connection. It is cheaper, and the Japanese docs claim you can run the Motions from keys or even a game controller.
AND THE BEST OPTION:

All you need are the TEC-1 board (email and Paypal from Hotproceed) and a Logitech "Cordless Action Controller for PS2" from eBbay

Then connect the Tec-1 to the RCB3 "slow" port with a short servo cable and away you go.
Additional Degrees Of Freedom
Three Degrees of Freedom OPTION - adds servos to the arms and one to the waist. Requires:
ARMS two KRS-4024SHV two 3x8 screws eight 2x15 screws two 300mm servo cables WAIST one KRS-2350HV nine 3x8 screws four 2.6x8 screws two end plates round servo hone four of something we cannot identify (Section OP02, Page 96, fourth item down in parts list at top of page.)
Power Supply
Consider an external power supply. A good 12VDC supply will require the appropriate connector to plug in the bot. A standard PC ATX style power supply works, so long as your actually use the +12VDC pin on the large header connector. Pin 14 is the switch for the supply, and a paper clip to ground will turn on the supply. Or, use an insulated wire for safety. :-) See diagram to right. Also, check eBay for used laboratory variable supplies for $25 to $40 with freight.

NOTE: If you do use a power supply and not the battery, DO NOT leave the supply on for long periods of time. It is not healthy for the servos to sit powered up and not operating. If you go to lunch, make sure to POWER DOWN the bot!
Extra Battery
A second battery will keep you running, as the stock battery does not last too long. Opt for the high capacity model. The standard battery is 10.8 VDC 300 mAh NiMh Model HRBA001 sold by Kyosho.
