Kyosho Announces Manoi PF-01 Release Date

The MANOI AT01 and PF01 were designed for Kyosho by Takahashi of Robo Garage. The AT01 was released in 2006, and today we have thePF01.

February 9, 2007 - Japan
Kyosho today announced that the Manoi PF-01 1/5 scale humanoid robot will be available for pre-order on March 1st, and will hit the shelves on April 1st, 2007. Pricing for the PF-01 is 189,000 JPY, or $1,580 USD, which is roughly a 30% premium over the 147,000 JPY ($1,220 UDS) Manoi AT-01.

The robot will sport a white & black body shell with a limited edition run of 150 PF-01s in Platinum and Silver. The PF-01 will be shipped in kit form and will include servos, controller, body shell, battery, charger and 2 gyros.

As of January 21, 2007 the BotConnect Forums are officially open for business. Our goal is to provide a well-organized, comprehensive forum for roboticists of all kinds. While our primary focus is on humanoid robots, we felt it was important to include discussions on non-humanoid robots as well.

We have also included topics for those new to robotics, as well as a General Information, and and Off-Topic Lounge. We hope that the inclusion of these forums will allow our community to grow and extend beyond just our common interest in robotics.

Ira and I have high hopes that BotConnect and the newly founded American Manoi Users' Group will provide not only the American Manoi Users, but all Humanoid Roboticists with another valuable resource to further knowledge and support for our robotic passion.

While our main focus is on the Manoi AT-01, we will provide equal time, space, and opportunity for all humanoid robots. Robosavvy, Robots-dreams, and others have provided an invaluable resource and created a close knit community, and we hope to carry on their tradition and become an American presence within that community.

By being a non-commerical site with no finanial interest we hope that AMUG will become a direct conduit to Kyosho and allow us to build a relationship resulting in more English languge support, do*****entation, and allow us to help Kyosho build a stong presence for their products in the American (non-Japanese) market.

With your help we hope to provide new Manoi owners with Assistance such as "New Robot Starter Kits", "Tips and Hints", as well as a central repository for information collected from users, vendors, and other sources around the world.
